Member opportunity: Sell online with Bloomingdale’s in the US (DBT)

UKFT has been informed that the Department for International Trade (DBT) has launched an online partnership with US department store Bloomingdale’s, which is actively seeking UK brands to join their marketplace. This is likely to be a very good opportunity for medium or larger UK brands who are ready to sell on a fulfilment basis in the US.

About the opportunity

Bloomingdale’s operates a selective, invitation-only marketplace and they are keen to diversify their offering with premium UK brands. This partnership provides an excellent route to market that is lower risk for everyone.

They’re currently looking for brands across: Fashion (Men’s, Women’s, and Kids), Jewellery, Accessories, Home, Beauty and Baby/Kids.

Key points to note

Bloomingdale’s takes a curated approach: they’re looking for brands to showcase their best and top-performing SKUs rather than entire catalogues. Quality over quantity is very much the focus here.

There are some specific seller requirements, including a US-based return warehouse, US bank account, GS1 certified UPCs, and the ability to ship within 48 business hours. DBT have partners who can help brands meet these criteria.

UKFT is also able to help members to understand the complex world of compliance, labelling, how to work with US businesses, IEEPA tariffs and, importantly, how to avoid creating “nexus” to have to pay tax in the US.
