UKFT review of National Occupational Standards for Sustainability in Fashion and Textile Manufacturing
10/01/2025
UKFT is working with the fashion and textiles industry to create and update National Occupational Standards (NOS) relating to sustainability across production and manufacturing job roles, covering the recycle, repair, re-use and reduction of raw materials on the factory floor.
We are inviting industry professionals across the UK to give their views on the draft functional map and NOS by taking part in this online consultation, designed to ensure the final suite best reflects industry needs.
The ‘Sustainability in Fashion and Textiles Manufacturing’ NOS suite will provide the industry with an occupational profile and a range of standards relating to sustainability for those involved in the actual manufacturing process. The new standards describe what someone needs ‘to do’ and ‘know’ in relation to sustainability on the factory floor and are also looking to include several imported standards, developed by E U Skills and Cogent to cover the planning and management of sustainability across the fashion and textiles manufacturing process.
These standards are used to underpin qualifications, training provision and apprenticeships and are a valuable resource to support recruitment and management activities across the UK.
The consultation end date is midday on Friday 7 February 2025.
