Manufacturers: Could you save through the Energy Intensive Industries scheme (EII)?

19/06/2024

Manufacturing businesses could be eligible for significant savings through the Energy Intensive Industries scheme (EII).

The Energy Intensive Industries Scheme, commonly referred to as ‘EII’, was introduced in 2016. As part of the government’s British Industry Supercharger measures, the EII scheme has been given a further boost with additional savings.

This voluntary scheme enables eligible participants to receive a substantial discount on some of the non-commodity costs included in their electricity bills. Once successfully admitted to the scheme, businesses can benefit from the discount for a period of five years (subject to there being no significant changes in the business’ operations).

While these various compensation and exemption schemes can be difficult to navigate, they deliver significant savings, which can amount to hundreds of thousands of pounds each year for some businesses.

UKFT is working with energy consultancy Envantage, which has proven experience in securing eligibility for the EII scheme, often where others have previously tried and failed.

Under the EII scheme, Envantage said it has secured savings in excess of £75 million for our manufacturing clients. Find out more on the link below.
