Fashion & textile apprenticeships available in the UK #NAW24

02/02/2024

During the National Apprenticeship Week (#NAW24), from 5 to 11 February 2024, we are pleased to shine light on apprenticeships within the UK fashion and textile sector. Scroll down to find out more about which fashion and textile apprenticeships are currently available.

As the Government-appointed Sector Skills Body for fashion and textiles in all four nations, UKFT looks after skills and training at all levels, including apprenticeships.

An apprenticeship combines paid work with study and training. The apprentice receives training from all levels of the business and is coached by a senior employee, whilst working towards an industry recognised qualification. An apprenticeship will support the apprentice with developing the technical knowledge, skills and real practical experience required for their immediate job and future career. Click here for more information on why becoming an apprentice could be the right choice to kickstart your career in the fashion and textile industry.

Current apprenticeships available in the UK fashion and textile sector cover a wide range of specialities, such as textile and footwear manufacturing, bespoke tailoring, fashion pattern cutter and more. Click on the link below to browse which apprenticeships in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

FIND THE RIGHT APPRENTICESHIP FOR YOU

“I truly believe an apprenticeship is the most effective way of learning our trade and securing a job once completed. I think if you’re passionate and willing to put in the work there are opportunities available.” Holly Robins,  Founder & Head Tailor,  Bespoke Trouser Makers

Apprenticeship success story

Madeleine Sessions, Training Supervisor at Dr Martens, shared the apprenticeship success story of Michaela Foster Saunders:

“We have many success stories with Dr Martens, but a standout for me is Michaela. She was an apprentice at Church’s, graduating in 2020. She joined Dr Martens Clicking and Digital cutting team, looking for progression and a wider range of jobs and responsibilities.

She fitted in with the team incredibly well and bringing her previous experience helped bolster the knowledge in the room. She was then made Digital cutting Supervisor in 2023. She has flourished in the role and is a real advocate for the apprenticeship.”
