Discover British brands at Chicago Men’s Collective | August 2023
25/07/2023
The UK Fashion and Textile Association (UKFT) will accompany a group of 40 British menswear brands and textile companies from August 6 to 8 at Chicago Men’s Collective, with support from the Department for Business and Trade (DBT). Twice a year, in February and August, the menswear tradeshow brings together leading brands spanning men’s classic and contemporary apparel, accessories and footwear.
Chicago Men’s Collective is the number one destination outside Europe for British heritage menswear. It is also the only show where suiting textiles are presented alongside menswear fashion, making it a key event for US and Canadian in-store tailors. Although most of the UK group has established agents in the US market, Chicago Men’s Collective remains essential to meeting key UK and Canadian multi-brand independent buyers.
This season, the UK group features the following exhibitors, including brands Alan Paine Knitwear, Barbour, Belstaff, Bennett Winch, Bonsoir of London, Chrysalis England, Corgi Hosiery and Knitwear, Crockett & Jones, Derek Rose London, Duchamp London, Far Afield, Fox Umbrellas, Harley of Scotland, Harry’s London, Hogarth Knitwear, John Smedley, Johnstons of Elgin, Joshua Ellis, Mackintosh, Pantherella, Rapport London, Robert Keyte, Sanders & Sanders, Scott & Charters, Seaward & Stearn, St James of London, Tateossian London, Ted Baker London, Ted Baker Tailored Clothing, Thompson London, Tricker’s, Truefitt & Hill, and 1 Like No Other.
In addition, five British textile companies specialising in classic suiting fabrics will attend the show: Dugdale Bros, Huddersfield Fine Worsted at Gladson NYC, Harrison of Edinburgh, Holland & Sherry, and Scabal.
As part of its Global Brands campaign, UKFT will promote, support and champion the UK group both online through social media activity, and on the ground at its booth (Front Row). The UKFT booth will include a list of all British exhibitors and their booth numbers, to help direct relevant buyers. The British exhibitor list and more information surrounding the UKFT international trade show activity are available online at ukft.org/globalbrands/.
British heritage remains in the spotlight, amongst the British brands exhibiting this season at Chicago Men’s Collective.
“For Tateossian, British Heritage and design stands as the cornerstone of our identity. It’s a celebration of superior craftsmanship, our unique brand of wittiness, and a touch of quintessential British humour,” said luxury jewellery brand Tateossian.
Luxury watch brand Rapport London also explains:
“British heritage represents a legacy of excellence, refined aesthetics and meticulous attention to detail. It inspires us to create products that exude elegance, sophistication, and sense of timelessness.”
Celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, footwear brand Sanders & Sanders explains:
“Heritage holds profound significance for the brand, which remains proudly owned and guided by the fourth and fifth generations of the Sanders family. Heritage, for us, symbolises an unwavering commitment to tradition, craftsmanship, and the enduring values instilled by our predecessors.”
For umbrella brand Fox Umbrellas, British heritage means:
“Continuing to produce the best umbrellas made to the highest standards and quality possible, as we always have done, as well as taking on board new advancements in materials and components which will enhance the finished article further.”
Meanwhile, sock and knitwear brand Corgi Socks is taking a new step towards sustainability:
“We have recently installed solar panels to the factory which is allowing us to use electricity sustainably on site, our bags are made from sugar cane and all of our packaging is carbon neutral and recyclable.”
