It was a pleasure meeting the Rise community in person again at our first networking event of 2023. UKFT Rise – our community of early-stage fashion and textile businesses – is steadily growing and we were delighted to see many familiar and new faces at the event.

The atmosphere was vibrant on Wednesday evening. UKFT Rise subscribers bonded around Aperol Sprits and nibbles offered by Hyatt Place London City East. Many brands at the event mentioned similar challenges they were facing. Recurrent topics included finding an affordable studio space, sourcing recycled yarns, applying for funding and producing made to measure garments.

During an informative session on selling globally as an early-stage business, UKFT’s Director of International Business Paul Alger MBE shared his updates on trade shows and export. He emphasised the importance of choosing the right trade show for your brand. UKFT Rise subscribers can in fact contact us for advice on trade shows to avoid any disappointment. Paul also answered questions on following up with buyers, how to approach pricing and why you should never displease your retailers…
