Update: Textile and Fashion Manufacturing to Receive Increased Support for Energy Costs

10/01/2023

Following intense lobbying by UKFT, supported by detailed data provided by members, we are delighted to announce that the fashion and textile manufacturing sector is to receive increased support through the government’s Energy Bill Relief Scheme.

While the original scheme has been extended albeit at a lower level of support, UKFT argued strongly that the energy intensive nature of textile and fashion manufacturing meant that the sector needed greater support during the on-going energy crises.

From April 2023 to March 2024 fashion and textile manufacturing businesses will be eligible to;

  • A maximum discount of £40.0/MWh for gas and £89.1/MWh for electricity.
  • The threshold price will be £99/MWh for gas and £185/MWh for electricity.
  • This discount will apply to 70% of energy volumes

Other businesses in the sector will be eligible for

  • A maximum discount of £6.97/MWh for gas and £19.61MWh for electricity.
  • The threshold price will be £107/MWh for gas and £302/MWh of electricity.

Customers do not need to take action or apply to the scheme to access the support. Support will automatically be applied to bills by your supplier.
