UKFT member Petit Pli is among the brands joining the line-up at London’s Battersea Power Station from Autumn 2022, alongside Mulberry, Castore, Hackett and Sweaty Betty.

Petit Pli is a material technology company comprised of a team of aeronautical engineers, neuroscientists and designers, developing patented innovations in its studio in London, England. The company has created innovative clothing that can grow with children and more recently, innovations for adults.

“Petit Pli doesn’t do ordinary,” said Ryan Mario Yasin, the brand’s founder and CEO.

“The Power Station is like no other site in London. It’s an architectural icon sitting in a vibrant community; on a site designed to empower connectivity. We’re over the moon to launch our flagship store at Battersea Power Station. Our Turbine Hall location reflects Petit Pli’s values of innovation, sustainability and delight. We’re excited to contribute to a new epoch of retail experience. The bonus for us is setting up shop around the corner from where Petit Pli took its first steps, at the RCA and Imperial College London!”

Simon Murphy, Chief Executive Officer at Battersea Power Station Development Company (BPSDC), said: “The countdown to the Power Station opening its doors to the public for the first time in history is well and truly on. From this Autumn, local residents, Londoners and visitors from further afield will be able to see for themselves how the Grade II listed landmark has been transformed into a retail and leisure destination like no other.

The retail experience within the Power Station will be housed in the two newly restored, historic Turbine Halls and on Electric Boulevard, a mix of office, retail and leisure space. The Turbine Halls are identical from the outside but are completely unique from within. Turbine Hall A reflects the lavish Art Deco glamour of the 1930s when the Power Station was built, whereas Turbine Hall B which was completed in the 1950s, has more of a brutalist, industrial look and feel.

Petit Pli was founded in 2017 by aeronautical engineer, Ryan Mario Yasin, who is focused on inventing and applying groundbreaking material technologies that solve problems for individuals, businesses and the planet across the textiles value chain.

The story started with Ryan’s nephew. Shortly after Viggo was born Ryan gifted him clothes, but by the time they arrived they were already too small. This served as a signal: childrenswear today fails to recognise the dynamic and rapidly changing bodies of Earth’s LittleHumans. Inspired by his background in deployable satellite technology, Ryan created a garment that would grow with his nephew, reducing water and carbon footprints, and the need to keep buying new clothes. Soon after, Petit Pli was born and Clothes That Grow went on to win multiple awards, starting a sustainable childrenswear revolution.

Growing Up

The negative impact of fashion on the environment isn’t limited to childrenswear so Petit Pli is embarking on transforming adult clothing too, aiming to create versatile clothing to extend its lifestyle, thus costing less and limiting environmental impact.
