British Textile Week 2021: Campaign for Wool
07/09/2021
The Campaign for Wool is a global endeavour initiated by its patron, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, in order to raise awareness amongst consumers about the unique, natural and sustainable benefits offered by wool.
Encouraging collaboration between an international community of woolgrowers, major fashion designers, retailers, manufacturers, artisans and interior designers, the Campaign has been instrumental in educating consumers about the impeccable environmental credentials of wool, and reconnecting them with its myriad of uses – from luxurious fine merino knitwear to fire-retardant insulation for the home. It is for this reason that the Campaign is proud to support British Textile Week and the UKFT.
British manufacturers have long been at the forefront of textile innovation. The importance of this in a post-COVID economy cannot be understated. Given the significant change in markets and seasonal buying habits, it is key that British firms take advantage of their creative edge and continue to be leaders in the textile industry.
The team at the Campaign for Wool hopes that this coming week serves to celebrate the richness of the UK textile industry and illustrate its values place in the wider global textile industry.
