UKFT Rise Ambassador - Kirstie Duke & Lucinda Waite
Töastie was founded by Kirstie Duke and Lucinda Waite, who met at university and found they shared a mutual love of the great outdoors.
Lucinda has built on her years of design experience working for brands including Burberry, Abercrombie & Fitch and Superdry. Kirstie honed her writing skills studying English Literature at University and went on to work in PR and Marketing, alongside supporting entrepreneurial ventures. Together, they set out to bring stylish, high-quality children’s outerwear to the market, while also ensuring it was affordable, lightweight and cosy (not to mention sustainable) – hence the brand’s name.
They are unwaveringly passionate about the brand and truly live and breathe it every second. They have run the business single handedly and they still make all key decisions together.
The brand offers outerwear “for the tiny explorer”, specialising in responsibly-sourced down puffer jackets and soft shell waterproof coats. Their range is technically designed to keep children with curious minds cosy and warm so they can free their adventurous spirit without being weighed down by uncomfortable, bulky outerwear. The founders describe the brand as “functional, fashionable and comfortable clothing for children”.
Töastie has been selected to be part of Selfridges’ ‘Bright New Things’ initiative for 2020 in the new Planet Earth section and has also recently been approved by Positive Luxury to carry the Butterfly Mark as recognition for reaching high degrees of sustainability across the brand.
