UKFT is working with ScreenSkills to review and update the existing national occupational standards (NOS) for costume roles. NOS are statements of what someone needs ‘to do’ and ‘to know’ to perform a job role. These standards are used to underpin apprenticeships and help to guide the development of courses at all levels; as well as being a resource for industry to support recruitment and management activities across the UK.

We are inviting industry professionals based in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales to give their views on the draft National Occupational Standards for Costume, which outline the skills and knowledge required to work in job roles relating to this area of the film, TV and theatre industries.

We appreciate that there are several Standards for this area, but please just comment on the parts that are of interest to you.

The consultation end date is midday on 18 January 2021.

UKFT is the Government appointed Sector Skills Body for fashion and textiles in all four nations and works with employers, education providers and other stakeholders to raise the skills and productivity of the people who work in the UK fashion & textile industry.
