Short course in Textile Testing and Performance at De Montfort University this September

26/06/2025

UKFT Education Partner De Montfort University (DMU) will run a one-day Textile Testing and Performance short course this September, delivered by academics from the university’s Fashion and Textiles Research Group. The session will take place in DMU’s advanced textile research and testing laboratories at the Vijay Patel Building in Leicester.

Designed to provide a practical foundation in textile product performance and testing, the course explores how to select appropriate testing methodologies depending on the end use. Delegates will gain insight into the role of testing in the textile industry, the importance of product performance and the principles behind standard testing methods.

This course is particularly relevant to those with a basic understanding of textile materials, including fibre types, fabric structures, and colouration. It is aimed at professionals across the textile supply chain—technicians, designers, buyers, merchandisers, technologists, machinists and others seeking to enhance their understanding of testing standards and product performance.

  • Date: The next session will run on Wednesday 10 September 2025
  • Location: On campus at De Montfort University, Leicester
  • Cost: £400 per person
